Question Mark

Regular readers of mNews will know that Miranda Mole likes to show mTAB users a feature in mTAB of which they may not have been previously aware, but could enhance their data analysis.

I hope you have fun trying this out and if you would like to know more about these or any other mTAB features, please call or email the Gamma Support Team. who will be happy to try and answer all your questions.

Change the Order of the Question Responses shown in my Spreadsheet?

All regular mTAB users will have come across the situation where they have created a spreadsheet of results in mTAB, but in an attempt to make analysis of the results easier, they would like to change the order in which the results are displayed.

There are a couple of reasons why this may be case, firstly the user may wish to change the order of the column headings so that their brand appears as the first column after the total column or alternatively the user may wish to sort the row responses either alphabetically, or based on one of the column of data’s results so that they appear in ascending or descending order.

Read on to discover how we can achieve these desired results in mTABWeb.

Change The Column Order

One of the simplest changes to make to a spreadsheet of results is to be able re-order the responses of the column question. A user may want to do this so that their brand appears at the front of the spreadsheet instead of hiding amongst the full set of results.

For Example, let’s suppose we represent Brand D in our spreadsheet.

In order to move the Brand D results to the front of the spreadsheet all we need to do is to highlight the first row of data, typically Row 4 the Unweighted Sample Total count and then right click and choose the last menu item “Change Question Response Order”.

Select A columnDrag and Release

We then simply drag Brand D to the top of the response list. When we press Ok, and Brand D will have moved positions in our spreadsheet.

The changes made to the columns will stay in place until the column question is removed or changed in the question selection view. If you wanted a more permanent solution, so that the results always appeared for a particular question in a set order, the best method of achieving this solution would be to create a recode of the question you are analysing with the new labels ordered in the way you want them to appear in spreadsheet.
